Application Process

  • Applications, including resume/CV, reference letter, and/or transcripts, are accepted year-round on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Applicants will be notified by e-mail of acceptance within 1-2 weeks. Please e-mail healthcare@jccc.edu with any questions.
  • Acceptance is based on meeting admission requirements. Students will need to have either completed pre-requisites or enroll in pre-requisite coursework upon acceptance. All acceptances are contingent upon a background check.
  • Background check, physical exam, immunizations, seasonal flu shot, TB test, and drug screen are required prior to the start of clinical work/externship.

Program Requirements

  • Students must be 18 or older
  • High school diploma or GED

Program Description

Graduates of JCCC's pharmacy technician program are trained, competent, caring pharmacy technicians ready for retail or health system entry level-positions.

Classes will include:

  • Small class sizes
  • Hands on laboratory experiences
  • 150-hour externship that may lead to employment opportunities
  • Responsibilities in hospitals and compounding pharmacies
  • Classes taught by experienced pharmacy technicians and pharmacisits

Program Costs

  • Each course is a separate enrollment with its own tuition. Most courses have a textbook required on the first day of class.
  • Additional costs for supplies, books, background check, physical exam, immunizations, seasonal flu shot, TB test, and drug screen, will average $1,000 for the program. .

Prerequisites

  • Anatomy & Physiology**
  • Medical Terminology: A Word Association Approach
  • Intermediate College Algebra***

* - Prerequisites can be fulfilled through another accredited institution as long as transcripts are provided with program application

** - We highly recommend the face-to-face version, but will accept the two-part online version

*** - Equivalent to JCCC MATH116. This can be a co-requisite during the first half of the program, but must be completed prior to the start of Pharmacy Calculations.
