Medical Coding Certification Preparation Course (CPC)

Course Requirements

Students must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GEB. Registration for this course is by application and selective admission only. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted if you meed requirements for the program.

Course Description

This course will study medical coding using the latest curriculum approved by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). Individuals who complete the course may apply to sit for the national Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam. The CPC exam certifies to code for physicians.

Books for Medical Coding — CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS and student workbook — are required and are available in the JCCC bookstore, and must be purchased by the first day of the course.

The Medical Coding course starts in the spring and late summer. 


Tuition for the Medical Coding Certification Preparation Course, regardless of state of residence, is $1,700*.  

This program is approved for WIOA funds (upon availability of funds), and is eligible for a grant through Continuing Education.  

A three-part payment plan is also available for this program. The approximate $380* fee for the CPC certification exam  is not included.
